Field stone
Field stone is sold in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors.
Field stone is typically installed in two manners. Wet set and dry stack. Wet set meaning that there is a cement footing poured prior to installation of the field stone and the pieces are then cemented together on top of this footing. The other style of installation is dry stack, in which a crushed stone footing is installed. This is considered a flexible base and allows the wall or steps to move with the shifts in soil. The stone is then dry stack on itself forming the wall or step.
